Fettuccine Alfredo is an Italian-American version of the Roman dish Fettuccine all'Alfredo. The American preparation tosses fettuccine with in a sauce of butter, garlic, Parmesan cheese and cream, while the Italian original relies on fettuccine, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and a generous amount of butter with no cream.
