The Great Hall of Van Rensselaer Manor House is a historic period room installed in Gallery 752 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Originally the grand entrance hall of the Georgian mansion built for Stephen Van Rensselaer and Catharine Livingston Van Rensselaer between 1765 and 1768, it was one of the largest and most elaborate domestic interiors created in prerevolutionary America. The room is notable for its richly carved woodwork and rare hand-painted English wallpaper. The manor served as the seat of the vast patroonship of Rensselaerswyck, an estate of nearly one million acres spanning parts of present-day Albany and Rensselaer counties. - AsNotedIn
