Thomas Howard (dock engineer)

  • English

Thomas Howard was a Bristol docks engineer and surveyor associated with major improvements to the city's harbour infrastructure during the late nineteenth century. As Docks Engineer, he oversaw the design and construction of quays, wharves, and other maritime works that supported the continued development of Bristol as a commercial port. His work combined traditional stone construction with modern engineering materials, where granite, Pennant stone, concrete, and iron were employed to create durable dockside facilities along the Floating Harbour. - AsNotedIn
