To Heil and Back

Heil is a tiny census?designated place in Grant County, set on the high plains of western North Dakota. The settlement begins as "Lawther," named for founder William Lawther, and later takes the name "Heil" after William Heil purchases the townsite. Today the community holds a small cluster of buildings at 2,303 feet above sea level, with a 2020 population of fifteen.
