1870/07/00 Henry H Richardson Architect Brattle Square Unitarian Church hold a design competition for a new building to be erected in the new Back Bay neighborhood. Henry H Richardson will win the commission to design the new church.
1872/00/00 The brick church on Brattle Street is demolished. The Brattle Street congregation will move to a new stone church building on Commonwealth Avenue.
1874/00/00 Italian craftsmen finish carving Frederic Bartholdi's friezes in place at the top of the tower. An Angle of Judgment with a golden trumpet is installed at each corner.
1876/00/00 Frederic Auguste Bartholdi Sculptor Frederic Bartholdi models four colossal frieze depicting baptism, communion, marriage and death. The figure in the baptismal frieze is Charles Sumner, the communion includes Henry Longfellow, Ralph W Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
1902/10/26 Edward Everett Hale Life An article in The Boston Post quotes a letter from Frederic Bartholdi to Edward Everett Hale saying that the marriage frieze sculpture is modeled on Abrahem Lincoln and Giuseppe Garibaldi.
