The Alexis Poulet House on Poplar Street in White Cloud, Kansas, is a hillside residence built for local businessman Alexis Poulet. The brick structure presents two stories to the street and three to the rear, where long iron-railed balconies reflect French influences from Poulet's earlier years in New Orleans. Designed in the Italianate Villa Style, the house features a square entrance tower, arched window lintels, paired brackets, and a hip roof that remains largely intact to its period of construction. Although the facade has been altered by the addition of a second-story balcony, the building retains strong architectural integrity. During the 1930s the residence operated as a rooming house, but it continues to serve as one of White Cloud's most distinctive nineteenth-century dwellings. - AsNotedIn
