Frankfort Commercial Historic District
- Vicinity: Both sides of Kentucky River at Bridge St, portions Broadway and Main, Ann, High Sts
The Frankfort Commercial District includes most of the nineteenth century commercial structures in the historic core of the city. It is bordered on the west by the Corner-in-Celebrities Historic District (entered National Register 11 March 1971) and on the north by the Old Capitol Historic District (pending National Register, submitted 8 August 1978). To the east and south, the district is edged by newer structures of mixed uses. In general, the character of the district derives from the density and architectural integrity of structures surviving from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries on a town plan essentially unchanged from its inception about 1786. - NRHP Nomination 12 March 1979
