Capt Nathaniel Hayden House
- Address: 128 Hayden Station Rd
The Captain Nathaniel Hayden House in Windsor, Connecticut, is a fine Georgian-period dwelling whose handsome details and substantial masonry construction retain remarkable integrity. The 2.5 story brick residence stands with a gambrel roof, end chimneys, and strict symmetrical fenestration. Each opening is fitted with 12-over-12 sash set in plain surrounds beneath cut-stone flat arches, while the entry presents paneled double doors framed by a simple surround and transom. Raised brick courses mark the divisions between stories, lending the facade a measured classical order. Built by Captain Nathaniel Hayden about 1763, the house was one of five or six large Georgian dwellings erected by members of the Hayden family along this road, forming a notable concentration of mid-18th-century domestic architecture in northern Windsor. - AsNotedIn
