One Juicy Peach
The Peachoid is a million?gallon water tower rising 135 feet above Peachoid Road on the north side of I?85 in Gaffney, South Carolina, its sculpted form and 60?foot leaf painted to resemble a ripe peach. Built with roughly ten million pounds of concrete and fabricated by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, the tank was later finished with the distinctive peach coloration by artist Peter Freudenberg, transforming a utilitarian structure into a regional landmark. The Peachoid highlights South Carolina's status as a leading peach?producing state and celebrates Cherokee County's annual contribution to that legacy. Its vivid profile gained international attention in 2013 after serving as a plot point in the Netflix series House of Cards, cementing its place as one of America's most recognizable roadside icons. - AsNotedIn
