The 1890 House Museum in Cortland, New York is a late 19th century, limestone, mansion that was built for local industrialist Chester F Wickwire. The 15000 square foot chateauesque residence was designed by architect Samuel B Reed and finished with Victorian stained glass windows, oak and cherry woodwork and ornate stenciling. On a visit to New York City in June of 1888, Mr Wickwire was so impressed by James A Bailey's stone mansion, that he hired Samuel B Reed to design a mirror image.
