The Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian Refreshment House

The Lamb Public House on Lamb's Conduit Street in London, England, is a four-storey Georgian-fronted pub with Victorian and Edwardian ground-floor alterations. Built of yellow stock brick under a slate roof, the facade carries four bays, including a splayed northern angle marked with an 1831 parish boundary stone. The ground floor retains a Victorian pub front later enriched with Edwardian green faience tiling, painted fascia signage, and a wrought-iron lantern bracket. Inside, the match-boarded walls, U-shaped bar, fixed seating, and celebrated snob screens — some original, others restored in 1958 — form an exceptional late-19th-century interior, supported by slender cast-iron columns with palmette capitals. Rear partitions and stair alterations date to the 1958 refurbishment, while a late-19th-century office enclosure survives at the back of the right-hand bar. - AsNotedIn
