Walnut Point State Park is a natural area of hardwoods, wildflowers and wildlife with a lake in Douglas County, Illinois, United States. Situated about 3 miles north of Oakland, the preserve offers camping, cross-country skiing, fishing on Walnut Point Lake, hiking, picnicking and hunting. The Upper Embarras Woods Land and Water Reserve along the Embarras River contains mature old growth forest that predates European settlement. Together with Upper Embarras Woods Nature Preserve, the forest habitat supports bird species and over 200 types of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and other plants. - AsNotedIn
