Celio is the 19th rione of Rome, a historic district spread across the ancient Caelian Hill just southeast of the Colosseum. Once covered in oak forests and later home to patrician villas, monasteries and early aqueducts, the area developed into a residential quarter that still feels quieter than the city center despite its proximity to major monuments. Today Celio blends archaeological parks, medieval churches and leafy streets with everyday Roman life, offering visitors a mix of world famous landmarks — such as the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine — and lesser — known sites tucked among gardens, villas, and winding lanes. - AsNotedIn
