The Otis Park Band Shell stands in the northwest corner of Otis Park and Golf Course in Bedford, Indiana. Funded by the Works Progress Administration, the Neo-Classical structure is the only WPA band shell constructed of limestone. Its solid rock foundation supports hundreds of tons of hand-cut Indiana buffstone rising two stories high, with individual stones weighing up to three-quarters of a ton. The shell is formed by six concentric, self-supporting limestone arches, and the stage is framed on each side by hand-carved Doric columns with dentilated cornice, triglyphs and metopes executed by WPA artisans. - AsNotedIn
