The Innis House is a historic house exhibit on the Fredericksburg Battlefield in Fredericksburg, Virginia, now part of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. Built shortly before the American Civil War, the small residence stood directly between Union and Confederate lines during both Battles of Fredericksburg. By the end of the first engagement the house was scarred by bullets and shell fire. After the war the family returned, and the structure remained a private home for the next century. The building has been restored to its 1862 appearance, with 52 documented bullet holes preserved inside and out. - AsNotedIn
