New Bohemia is a cultural and entertainment district in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, set on the left bank of the Cedar River a little east of downtown. Originally settled by Bohemian immigrants in the late 19th century, the heart of the neighborhood is the Bohemian Commercial Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The NRHP district spans the 1000-1300 blocks of 3rd Street SE and the 100-200 blocks of 14th Avenue SE, preserving the commercial core of the old immigrant community. After the 2008 flood, a major recovery and reinvestment effort transformed the area into a pedestrian-friendly urban neighborhood. - AsNotedIn
