Mary "Polly" Middleton, born in 1750, was the daughter of Mary Bull and Thomas Middleton, a wealthy South Carolina planter and slave importer from Prince William Parish. Mary's grandmother, Mary Brandford Bull of Toogoodoo Plantation, willed her fortune to her four granddaughters. Since three of the granddaughters died soon after receiving their inheritance, Mary inherited the whole Bull estate. - AsNotedIn
