Bert D Keck

  • American

Bert D Keck was a prolific Midwestern architect whose career stretched across the northern plains and into Canada before he settled in Florida. Trained through family apprenticeships in Illinois, he established offices in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Crookston, Minnesota, designing hotels, business blocks, government buildings, and residences—three of which in Crookston are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1925, Keck relocated to Stuart, Florida, where he became the city's most significant historic architect, designing the Federal Recreation Building, a similar center in Fort Pierce, a 1954 addition to the Martin County Courthouse, and serving for more than two decades as architect to the Martin County School Board. Over his long career, he produced more than 500 buildings, maintaining a Palm Beach office managed by his son, Konrad. - AsNotedIn
