George Blagowidow was a New York publisher and the founder of Hippocrene Books. An ethnic Russian born in Poland, Blagowidow survived Nazi occupation, escaped communist Europe and attended university in Belgium. Blagowidow is best known as a publisher, but he was also a novelist: In Search of the Lady Lion Tamer (Harcourt Brace, 27 March 1987), The Last Train from Berlin (Doubleday, July 1977) and Operation Parterre (Hippocrene 6 December 1982). - AsNotedIn
