Nicolaas Beets

Nicolaas Beets (1814-1903) was a Dutch pastor, professor, author and poet known under the pseudonym HILDEBRAND, known for his keen eye for comic detail and the accuracy of his characterizations and descriptions (The Delta Series Books). Camera Obscura was his famous work. Other works are: Jose (1834), Kuser (1835) and the Guy Fleming (1837). In 1840, Mr Beets was the pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church in Heemstede and from 1874 to 1884 he was a professor of church history at the University of Utrecht. (Book Jacket)
