Korpivaara, or wilderness hill as it was called by local Finns, was a pioneering settlement of about six homesteads in the Little Belt Creek valley of Montana. Finnish settlers arriving here (1895-1915) from working in mining towns, would typically cleared six to thirty-five acres of land for farming and built three or four small buildings. Evidence shows the homesteader uses sophisticated, Nordic building methods, such as the toothed-corner notch, in constructing their log structures. - AsNotedIn
