From 1933 to 1938, the Civilian Conservation Corps' (CCC) stationed Company 1781-V (Arkansas veterans) at Petit Jean State Park. Consisting of WWI veterans with building experience, they first constructed living quarters for the camp, then Mather Lodge. The company also constructed the stone dam for Lake Bailey, roads, trails and Davies Bridge over Cedar Creek. - AsNotedIn
