Old Koloa Town
The first major sugar cane plantation in Hawaii was established at Koloa in 1835 by Ladd and Company. Sugar production became an industry in Hawaii and created a draw for immigrant workers from Asia. Among the town's remaining buildings are Christian mission buildings, a Japanese temple and a restored Jodo Mission (Buddhist temple built in 1910). Many of these can be seen along the Koloa Heritage. Trail- AsNotedIn
