City of Rocks are group of volcanic rock formations at an elevation of 5,200 feet in a one square mile area of the Chihuahuan desert region of southeastern New Mexico. The geologic formation is made up of large, sculptured rock pinnacles that rise up to 40 feet. The New Mexico State Park, located about halfway between Silver City and Deming, offers camp sites, hiking trails, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, birding and a desert botanical garden.
