1940/06/19 Prisoner of war, French Lt Joseph Darnand, is interned at the Pithiviers camp. Darnand, a future French collaborator with the Nazi Germany, will escape in August 1940.
1940/07/00 After the Franco-German armistice of 22 June 1940, Nazi Occupiers hold French prisoners of war in Pithiviers in France.
1941/05/14 Pithiviers internment camp is expanded to include Jews. Inmates, housed in 19 barracks, are guarded by Vichy officials acting under Nazi supervision. Most buildings have been destroyed during the 1950s, but the Infirmary remains at 2 rue de Pontournois.
1942/07/15 Irene Nemirovsky Victim Irene Nemirovsky is held captive at Pithiviers Internment Camp (lost). A "Memorial of the deportation of the Pithivier and Beaune la Rolande camps" is located at Square Max Jacob, 45300 Pithiviers, France.
