This grand estate (17 acres with a 7500 square foot mansion) was once home to Governor John Y Brown Jr (CEO and co-owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken) and first Lady Phyllis George (Miss America 1971). It served as Kentucky's temporary Governor's mansion during John Brown's administration. The official Governor's mansion had been condemned by the fire marshal. Elaborate post-Derby Day parties included such guest as actor Gregory Peck, boxing champion Muhammad Ali, television host Barbara Walters, singer Kenny Rogers, actor Don Johnson, developer Donald Trump and artist Andy Warhol. Bill and Hillary Clinton visited during his time as governor of Arkansas. - AsNotedIn
