Louisville & Nashville Railroad Passenger Depot is a red brick train depot between Lexington, KY and Knoxville, TN. The original building included a main lobby, men's restroom, ladies waiting room (with their own restroom), ticket agent's office (secured by bars on all the windows) and station master's office. Also, there was a separate but equal entrance, waiting area, ticket window and restrooms for people of color, all required by the 1904 Day Law. L&N ended passenger train service in 1968 and freight service in 1969. Today, about 30 CSX freight trains pass the station daily. In 1987, the L&N Depot opened as the Berea Welcome Center for town visitors. - AsNotedIn
