1881/00/00 Walter Chamberlain Peacock Life After a short stay in New Zealand, WC Peacock arrives in the Hawaiian Islands in c 1881. Not long after landing, Peacock starts a wholesale liquor business with George Freeth at 23 Nuuanu Street. By 1890 Freeth had departed the firm.
1899/12/09 Yon Chong, a 22 year old Chinese bookkeeper in Chinatown, Honolulu, contracts bubonic plague. Mr Chong died December 12th.
1899/12/11 President of the BOH Henry Ernest Cooper announces the first case of bubonic plague death to the public, orders an immediate military quarantine of the Chinatown and close the Honolulu port to both incoming and outgoing vessels.
1900/03/31 The Bubonic plague in Chinatown, Honolulu ends. A total of 71 cases and 61 fatalities were reported by Board of Health (BOH).
1904/00/00 Tuck Young opens the Oahu Market at the corner of King and Kekaulike Streets.
1924/00/00 Earl Derr Biggers Author In an obscure corner of an inside page, I found ... Chinese, being too fond of opium, had been arrested by Sergeants Chang Apana and Lee Fook, of the Honolulu Police. - EDB, paging through a Hawaiian newspaper in the Reading Room of the NY Public Library House Without a Key (book)
1932/00/00 Wo Fat Restaurant first opened in 1882, but the building was destroyed in a 1886 fire. A new building was built after the 1900 fire, and then another in 1932. It was located at 115 North Hotel Street. The Wo Fat Restaurant closed in 2005.
