James P White House

This house was built for James Patterson White who was born in Belfast, September 2, 1800 and died March 25, 1879 at the age of 78. He had a long and successful business career and was Mayor of Belfast from 1861-1863. White was also a State Senator from 1862-1863. The real significance of the James P White House lies with its architecture. It is an outstanding example of high style Greek Revival architecture in Maine as designed by a native architect, Calvin A Ryder of Orrington, Maine. - NRHP
