Halo Burger, Flint

  • Historically Known As: Vernors Soda Fountain

  • Address: 800 Saginaw St
  • Vicinity: W 4th St

The Halo Burger on Saginaw Street in downtown Flint occupies a Spanish Mediterranean-style building that originally housed a Vernors soda fountain and sandwich shop. The structure features Flint Faience tilework inside and out, and its interior retains ornamental iron railings with large "V" letters from its Vernors era. James Vernor opened his first soda fountain in Detroit in 1896. Halo Burger, founded in Flint in 1923, now operates in the building and promotes fresh, never-frozen burgers — including its signature olive burger — along with old-fashioned Boston Coolers and cream ales. - AsNotedIn
