1816/00/00 James Rutledge Faith Rev James McCready establishes Sharon as the First Presbyterian Church in Illinois. Ruling elders are Peter Miller, James Mayes and James Rutledge. Three miles north of this site on land belonging to Thomas Rutledge, a hewed log meeting house is built.
1817/00/00 The son of John and Margaret (Storey) McClellan is buried at Sharon.
1864/04/00 In the spring of 1864, the current Sharon church is built on the stage coach road. Future preachers include Benjamin F Spilman whose brother, Jonathan, composed the music to "Flow Gently, Sweet Afton", John Silliman and Benjamin C Swan.
1865/00/00 John McClellan deeds the land for Sharon church and burying ground.
