2012/11/00 Pouring of the concrete foundations of the NMoAAHaC begins. Robert Silman Associates are the engineering of the below-grade structure and exhibit structural support.
2013/11/17 Cranes install a segregated railroad passenger car and a guard tower from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in the under construction NMoAAHaC.
2013/12/00 J Max Bond Jr Architect By late December 2013, construction is just weeks from finishing the five basement levels, and above-ground work is scheduled to begin in late January 2014.
2014/10/00 With the major portions of the building completed, the National Museum of African American History and Culture is topped.

2015/04/14 Philip Freelon Architect Glass enclosure of the NMoAAHaC is complete and the first of the structure's 3,600 bronze-colored panels for the building's corona were installed.
2015/06/03 Scaffolding on the NMoAAHaC roof collapses on top of 35-year-old Ivan Smyntyna who is rushed to a hospital, where he later dies of his injuries.
2016/01/00 Smithsonian Institution Steward The Smithsonian sets an opening day of the NMoAAHaC for 24th. President Barack Obama will dedicate the museum, which will be followed by a week of special events.
2016/09/24 Barack Obama Dignitary National Museum of African American History and Culture opens on The Mall in Washington, DC.
