1898/00/00 William B Ittner Architect Simmons Colored School is built in 1898, designed by William B Ittner, he also design additions built in 1901 and 1911.
1930/00/00 The west addition extends the 1911 wing at Simmons Middle School in 1930 and the brick-faced gymnasium-all-purpose room is added in 1965 at the far west end.
1930/00/00 Chuck Berry Education Charles Berry attends Simmons Colored School. Later, he wrote that his 7th and 8th grade teacher Julia Davis was "a Baptist, but she is like a Catholic nun in the classroom."
