The Davis Mansion is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places through its service as the home of prominent United States Senator, Henry Gassaway Davis, representing his early political accomplishments and actions during the process of Reconstruction following the Civil War. Its architectural style is locally significant as one of only a few examples of the Second Empire style, not only in Piedmont, but the entirety of Mineral County. Despite minimal alterations, such as the removal of several decorative brackets, the building retains excellent historic architectural integrity. - NRHP, 9 November 2008
