In 1940, brothers Richard (Dick) and Maurice (Mac) McDonald open the McDonald's Bar-B-Q, a drive-in complete with carhops, and soon had annual sales over $200000. But, in 1948 they closed for 3 months, simplified their menu and got rid of the carhops. The McDonald brothers change the food industry by speeding up service and creating the 1st McDonald's hamburger stand, no golden arches just yet. Ray Kroc, a milkshake machine salesman, came to see why the McDonald brothers were buying so many of his milkshake machines and soon became a partner. - AsNotedIn
