The Castle Barn at Thorpe Castle House is a Grade II English Listed agricultural building and private residence in Thorpe Achurch, Northamptonshire, England, originally erected as the Great Hall of Thorpe Waterville Castle for Walter de Langton, Bishop of Lichfield. The 14th century squared coursed limestone structure is detailed with an ashlar plinth and ashlar gable parapets and is cover with a thatch roof. The upper level of the original two-story part of the building has been removed but evidence of the upper-level fireplace remains on the north gabled wall. At attic level, the chimney breast is flanked by deeply recessed circular windows with molded surrounds. The barn doors on the west side and rear were added in the 19th century. According to Historic England, the structure has a very fine king-post roof structure. Tie beams have wall posts and curved braces, the king posts have braces in both directions, and similar braces opposite the collars. Main beams have moulded soffits. - AsNotedIn
