Baltic Shield
- Also Known As: Fennoscandian Shield
The Baltic or Fenno-Scandian Shield is a large landmass of exposed Precambrian rock stretching from southern Norway, across most of Sweden and Finland, and into the Kola Peninsula in north-western Russia. The eastern part of the shield includes areas south of the White Sea and around Lake Onega. Much of the Precambrian bedrock is covered by a layer of more recently deposited Quaternary sediments, left mainly by glacial processes. - AsNotedIn
