Southwestern Gneiss Province

Southwestern Gneiss Province is a physiographic province of the European continent divided into several north-south-trending segments by Sveconorwe-gian deformation zones. Although much of the bedrock forming from about 1650 to 1500 Million Years Ago in the Gothian orogeny, it was later intruded by several generations of granitoids and metamorphosed and deformed again during the Sveconorwegian orogeny c 1100-900 Million Years Ago. In western Norway, these gneisses were deformed during the Caledonian orogeny c 400 Million years Ago. - AsNotedIn
