1317/00/00 John Wogan is granted the Manor of Rathcoffey in 1317, where his descendants will build a castle.
1417/00/00 Rathcoffey Castle was documented in a Wogan dower.
1453/00/00 An army led by Richard Wogan captures Rathcoffey Castle from his cousin Anne Eustace (nee Wogan).
1580/00/00 William Wogan, joins the Second Desmond Rebellion in support of the Roman Catholic cause. He was executed the following year and all his lands forfeited. The family regained Rathcoffey soon afterwards.
1642/00/00 During the Wars of the Three Kingdoms the Wogans sided with Parliament. Colonel Monck's army lays siege to Rathcoffey castle and massacres many civilians. Their bones were found in a forest in the 19C. The castle's garrison were executed in Dublin.
1785/00/00 Archibald Hamilton Rowan buys Rathcoffey Castle from Richard Wogan Talbot and builds a new mansion on the site of the Castle incorporating the Wogan dwelling in this structure.
