Briefly owned by author Elizabeth Gaskell, The Lawn is a Georgian period house and Grade II English Listed Building in Alton, Hampshire, United Kingdom. The early C19, two storey, 3 bays wide residence was constructed of colour-washed brick surmounted with a hipped slate roof. The ground floor central glazed door with radiating fanlight in an architrave surround is original. The porch built slightly later includes a moulded cornice and, left and right, a single canted bay window runs through 2 storeys. Interiors preserve an early C19 stair and fireplaces. Extensive modern additions have been constructed to the northeast. - AsNotedIn
