1908/09/30 Major James Lide Coker Benefactor Founded by Major James L Coker, Coker College for Women opens for its first session, with Dr Edward V Baldy as its president. Coker had been the primary benefactor of the Welsh Neck High School, the College's predecessor institution.
1909/00/00 Wilson and Sompayrac Architect The firm of Wilson and Sompayrac is retained as college architects for the Coker College for Women.
1910/00/00 J Carroll Johnson Architect Although drawings have not been located, it is obvious that J C Johnson conceived the plan for the Coker College Campus, placing buildings so they will be the focal points of the existing city streets.
