Mid Century Modern Noir

The Beach Terrace Apartment Hotel is a mid-20th-century residential complex in Long Beach, California. Designed by architect Victor E Siebert, the building was considered an innovative solution for a bluff-top site overlooking a broad sandy beach. The multilevel structure rises six stories, with two levels above the cliff and four built into the bluff, all supported by pilings driven into the sand. Plans called for reinforced concrete and steel construction, fully glazed ocean-facing facades, and 16-by-43-foot sun decks on each level. The 11-unit apartment hotel later appeared as the Beach Terrace Motel in Brian De Palma's 1984 film Body Double. - AsNotedIn
