Old Presbyterian Frame Church, New Brick Walls

Apostolic Christian Faith in Van Wert, Ohio, occupies a brick-clad structure whose oldest portion was built in 1852 by the First Presbyterian Church. The original white-steepled frame church — raised under Rev Thomas Elcock — was later enveloped within new brick walls, leaving the historic wood-frame roof and steeple visibly projecting above the masonry shell. This layered building fabric preserves one of Van Wert's earliest ecclesiastical landmarks, now serving a new congregation while retaining the architectural imprint of its mid-nineteenth-century origins. - AsNotedIn
