Over the Brook, Plymouth

  • Vicinity: S of Town Brook, Plymouth Harbor, Nook Rd, S Pond Rd and Pilgrims Hwy
  • Type: Neighborhood

Over the Brook is a historic neighborhood in Plymouth, Massachusetts, situated south of the commercial harbor district that combines Plymouth's maritime heritage with some of the town's most desirable residential streets. Settled by the mid-17th century, the waterfront section features well-preserved historic homes, private wharves and boat slips, and a protected small-craft harbor that provides direct access to Plymouth Bay. The neighborhood's civic focal point is the Plymouth Training Green, a three-acre common established in 1711 for militia exercises and public gatherings. Grand Colonial, Federal, and later-period homes were built around its perimeter, creating one of Plymouth's most distinguished residential enclaves. Today, the Training Green and waterfront sections together form a seamless transition between Plymouth's historic downtown, Town Brook, and the coastal neighborhoods extending south toward Wellingsley. - AsNotedIn
