The Hills Beyond can be thought of as an unfinished novel, a collections of short stories or a series of sketches. This book is largely the work of Thomas Wolfe's editor at Harper and Brothers, Edward Aswell. In May 1938, Wolfe gave Aswell a one and a quarter million word manuscript now known as The October Fair. Mr Aswell re-arranged, blended and spliced pieces together with new lines to create three novels. All the chapters about the protagonist's ancestry became The Hills Beyond. - AsNotedIn
